Seminar: Composing with a voice not written into tradition

Tickets

In collaboration with Wiener Festwochen and their initiative Akademie Zweite Moderne, which works to promote new compositions by women, Sort/Hvid and Copenhagen Opera Festival invite you to a seminar on how creating works within a tradition where women have historically been underrepresented affects an artistic career.

Meet the head of Akademie Zweite Moderne, Lisa Florentine Schmalz, composer SØS Gunver Ryberg and composer and performance artist Marcela Lucatelli. Through personal presentations and joint conversations, they will reflect on their own artistic experiences, representation and the future of music drama. Soprano Katinka Fogh Vindelev will also stop by and sing some songs from the opera Jeanne d’Arc, which played at Sort/Hvid in the spring. The conversation will be moderated by producer at Sort/Hvid, Nana Senderovitz.

The seminar will revolve around questions such as: How is an artistic language formed? What stories and aesthetics become possible when multiple perspectives are given space? And what do we want the opera and future music drama field to look like?
