Welcome to another round of Klub Kreatur. This time you will meet the duo Toaspern|moeller (singer/danser) taking shape as the band The Demo Tape. They will examinate make-believe in real time: How does believe, doubt and charisma appear out of nothing? During two weeks of residency at Sort/Hvid, the duo team up with scenographer Christian Friedländer to explore how the audience’s trust is gained. Why can artists convince an audience of constructed truths? Is art basically pure manipulation? Are artists the original conspiracy theorists?
On a musical soundscape of both recorded and live music, we experience dance, live games, pseudo-guru sessions and rituals. The audience is invited into a formally structured experiment, where we test the mechanisms that make fiction feel true and the performer appear charismatic. Perhaps the team will enlighten you, perhaps deceive you. Only your imagination sets the limit.
toaspern|moeller
toaspern|moeller has existed since 2020 and consists of dancer/choreographer Alma Toaspern and tenor/composer Mathias Monrad Møller. The duo works at the intersection of movement and sound. They create both music and dance performances, not separately, but in collaboration, where they shape each other’s expressions. Their latest performances include The Combat, a hybrid between a “musicle” and Monteverdi, ERNST, a solo work in which Toaspern takes on the role of the showman Ernst in a festive setting, and the duet LIEBE, which explores the many states of love. In the latter, they also collaborated with senoprapher Christian Friedländer. They produce both in Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.

KLUB KREATUR is a recurring event at Sort/Hvid. Here you are invited behind the scenes of the music performances created here in the old slaughterhouse. The atmosphere is informal, the bar is open, and working artists open their laboratory and show the raw, crisp art in the process of creation. It is a one-off performative experiment that only happens for one evening.
