TicketsDuring Copenhagen Opera Festival we open the doors to Klub Kreatur with an explosive opera performance. We want to take you to church! But not the church you know. In the center stands Christ, as a transwoman, a resurrected Jesus coming back to preach a new gospel. A gospel about love, acceptance and radical inclusion.
Director Sargun Oshana, actress May Lifschitz, opera singer Victor Kassebeer and the musician Hvad explore the figure of Christ from a queer perspective during a two week residency at Sort/Hvid. On the 21st of August they open the doors to their experiment at Klub Kreatur. Experience an opera performance, a one off-event that only happens that night.
With the British writer and actor Jo Clifford’s controversial monolog “THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JESUS QUEEN OF HEAVEN” as a steppingstone, the team deconstructs biblical messages and rebuilds them from a queer perspective, where gender and Christianity flows freely. The angelic opera form is mixed with electronic tunes in a dissolution of the border between the holy and the profane. They work with questions such as: How can one challenge the gendered notions of modern Christianity? Does a holy sound without gender exist? Can we create a new and less gendered gospel? Join a ritual evening where not only Jesus resurrects, but so do our ideas of the holy.

KLUB KREATUR is a recurring event at Sort/Hvid inviting you behind the scenes of the music theatre which is created here in the old slaughterhouse. The vibe is casual, the bar awaits and working artists open their laboratories to show the raw, crisp art while it is being created. It is a one-off performative experiment that only happens that one evening.
Included in the ticket is a free beer or soda. After the show you can meet the artists in an artist talk.
