MENS SOLEN BRÆNDER
TicketsMENS SOLEN BRÆNDER [WHILE THE SUN IS BURNING] is a performance about a mother and a son. About being someone’s mother. About being somebody’s child, in this time. About storms over Jakarta, droughts in Syria, about legacy and responsibility and obligation in a world on fire. About grief and care. About habits and memories and ways of living. About atoms and paradigms. About the first signs of life in a mother’s womb and about the first signs of life on earth. About the carbonate-silicate cycle and a lawn by a harbor with a red house. About pillars falling and a deluge of light. About what you answer a child asking: “Mom, am I going to die?”
MENS SOLEN BÆNDER is a poetic song mourning the ongoing collapse. Actress Lotte Andersen is on stage with actor Louis Bodnia Andersen – mother and son – on stage and in real life. Two generations, one deep gap between reactions to climate change.
On stage with the actors is composer, musician, and sound designer Rasmus Juncker. The performance is created by director Niels Erling in collaboration with actress Lotte Andersen. Katrine Muff Enevoldsen and Lars Emil Foder have written the lyrics to the songs, while the scenography is created by Lise Marie Birch. The performance is made with contributions from the four contemporary writers Marie Bjorn, Ida Marie Hede, Peder Frederik Jensen, and Ursula Andkjær Olsen who have teamed up with two biologists, a geologist, a philosopher, and an astrophysicist.
Co-production between Sort/Hvid, AKT1 and Songbirds.
