GILGAMESH

Tickets

You arrive at the green carpet in your most extravagant monster couture. It’s the world premiere of the long-awaited blockbuster production GILGAMESH. You and your inner beast are specially invited to an intimate evening in the company of the abyss. This is VIP. This is Blitz-blitz-blitz. This is MEGALOMANIAMEGALOMANIAMEGALOMANIA.

The artistic director of S/H opens her first season with the transgressive performance collective LOGEN who has dedicated the last ten years to expressive and intimate stage experiments. Now they tear apart the primordial myth Gilgamesh and convert it into an immersive experience for humans and monsters. A film premiere developing into a ritualistic monstrous battlefield to be etched into eternity.

Five meters high he stood as an undefeatable giant. 2/3 God, 1/3 human. The primordial myth of Gilgamesh written on clay tablets as far back as 2000 years BC is the story of a tyrant becoming gentle as a lamb when his beloved nemesis dies, and he realizes that not even he is
immortal. Put into the hands of LOGEN the myth becomes a monstrous self-examination and combat for iconic immortality. The thousand-year-old story is fused together with performative associations and current societal incidents.

About LOGEN
LOGEN is inspired by the monstrous. By the backside of humanity. By what we avoid speaking about. Dirty thoughts, overconfidence and the subconscious. The collective insists that there is beauty to be found behind everything ugly and unpolished. To them it is virtuous to vulnerably keep challenging one’s own capabilities. Not until we dare to acknowledge all sides of a human being can we truly get to know ourselves. Their performances are laboratories which one become a part of. They create immersive universes and installations as the basis for a raw, unpredictable community between audience and performers.

LOGEN is an interdisciplinary artist collective started in 2014. Today it includes Nathalie Mellbye, Patrick Baurichter and Anja Behrens and different guests. In GILGAMESH the guests are the dancer Bjørk-Mynte Paulse, sound artist and composer Joëlle McGovern Serret, live musician Lorenzo Colombo, actor Christine Sønderris, set designer Simone Bartholin and the evening’s audience.
